New Publishing: The Australian Fabians Review #6 re-publishes my 2010 Gaza paintings, January 2024 AU

I want to thank Dr Paul Reed, the editor of The Australian Fabian Review, and his publication committee for inclusion of an extract of a blog post I did on 11th October 2023 in his Issue 6. When I read it, I was deeply moved by all their writers, but especially the heartfelt essays by Captain Paul Watson & Tony Webb on the scale of the tragedy unfolding in Gaza and their valuable insights. You can download a PDF of Issue 6 at: https://assets.nationbuilder.com/australianfabians/pages/1482/attachments/original/1704108890/FabiansReview-web6.pdf?1704108890. You can also view these paintings in my 2013 solo exhibition gallery: The Assassination of Judy Garland: A Metaphorical Portrait of America.

The 2010 painting below is titled ‘And Starring Benjamin Netanyahu as Norman Maine’ 2009 and was 1st published online in Literal Latte, NYC, USA, 2009; then online in The Palestine Chronicle 2009, Palestine; then online in Tikkun Magazine, USA, 2011 with an interview; & then in 2013 with another online article I wrote for The Queer Psychoanalysis Society’s journal The Quoch, San Francisco, USA. As artists we try our best to express what we perceive and understand, mostly to try and do some good, but too often our audiences are too small (though they are brave and unafraid. Kinder and more intelligent in matters of the heart and spirit). This post sits within my AUKUS Chronicles because the lessons of Gaza in 2023, if ignored, will result in the third “hotspot” ignition that I talked about in my VALA article for the Blake Society in November 2023.

Carl Gopalkrishnan (aka Gopal)

Over the past two decades, Carl Gopalkrishnan's artwork has garnered international recognition for his ability to forge meaningful connections between the cultural narratives found in art and literature & the complex dynamics driving international law, intervention and global conflict. Through his art, Carl provides a platform for legal and military analysts to explore the creative, subconscious and emotional nuances underlying the doctrines that influence matters of war and peace. His paintings continue to foster constructive dialogues about the role of creativity in shaping our world.
