This painting started off as an exploration of some stencils of Predator drones I used in a previous painting. I was also following up some readings on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from Revelation while reading The Irony of American History by US theologian-philosopher Reinhold Niebuhr" (1952, Andrew J. Bacevich intro 2009).

As I was reading it I kept returning to the painting late at night to work that through some of the ideas. Some of my own story mixed into this one, obviously, as I wrote myself into the observation of the painting itself by way of the central figure. I seem to evoke Vishnu whenever these questions  arise.
